Production Blog: Finishing the Music Video.

Image
After out long day of hard work, we decided to call it a day. We gave ourselves a few days to rest. On a day where none of us were busy, we called on Facetime. Isaac had some issues getting into the group call, so we switched to Snapchat. We all have the app, and it avoids any problems with connection. Once we were on call, we started with playing the video fully. We wanted to refresh our memories on what we had so far. Amelie noticed some issues with the video. Her drum part did not match with the music. She got a little frustrated after it took us about ten tries to find the perfect place for the clip. Once we got it, Isaac made a suggestion. He wanted to add the insert of Amelie and Sammie jumping a few seconds later in the video. This would space out the clips a bit more evenly. I also suggested we put all the fisheye lens clips together. The one of me would come directly after the clip of Isaac running out. Amelie's a few seconds later, and then finally Sammie. The last issue

Production Blog: Editing!

Once we got back to Sammie's house, we got to work. Her dad tried to Airdrop all the videos, but the files were so that big it took a while. Eventually, we individually texted the videos from his phone to her computer. She is an expert on using iMovie, so that was an obvious choice for editing. We started by planning out our scenes and frames. Amelie and I went through all the footage and cut down any excess seconds of film at the beginning or end. We deleted any confusing shots or if one of us broke character. It took us about twenty minutes to fully cut down every clip into the format we wanted. Once we had everything, we sent them back to Sammie. She started by just putting all the clips into iMovie, without order. But before we added the song, we had to order each shot. Whatever we filmed at the house came first, then we used the clips from the studio. We inputted the music on top of it. This forced us to switch around some clips to make the music fit. We wanted the chorus to s

Production Blog: Finished Filming.

Hi, again! Yesterday, we filmed in the studio. Sammie's father has a music studio where he records his own music. He said we could use it to record our song! We arrived at her house, just as a meeting spot. Her dad drove us all to his studio. It had all kinds of equipment for us to play around with. All of us played our respective instruments. I cannot play any which means I sang. Our plan was to just put the actual song over our footage, which is what eventually happened. However, since we all know the song, Sammie wanted to film one take where we actually played the music. We had Sammie's dad film us playing. We did multiple takes, some with a fisheye lens. He also put on some cool lighting for us, which we used to insert into our final product. After we finished the actual full scenes of us playing the song, we got some other shots for the plot. I helped film Isaac and Sammie running out of the studio. Sammie got some cool shots of Amelie and I looking up at the camera throu

Production Blog: Started Filming!

Hi! I just got home from filming the first portion of the music video. Both of my parents are currently out of town, so Amelie picked me up and drove me to Sammie's house. We met up at 10:00 am. We wanted to meet a little earlier than we first decided in order to have enough time. We chose to just start filming from the start of our storyboard. This was a very useful tool to keep us on track for what we needed to get filmed. Sammie was the actor we chose to portray the main character in our music video. She was also the person who's computer we were going to use to edit our video. It was easier to use her phone to film, so she would already have the videos on her computer later. In our video, we needed a phone, but since I was filming with hers, we used mine as the prop. We texted all the fake couple pictures that we took right before to me. After we finished this scene, we continued onto the other one's at the house. There is a scene where Sammie puts her head in a cereal

In order to plan out our video, we all brainstormed ideas for the video concept. Then, we created a storyboard to plan out the shots, which I said last time. Next, we scout locations and gather a general idea of where we want to go. On the day of the shoot, we will prepare the set by moving some things around just so we could get the best angles possible. Before we get there, we all will do our hair, makeup, and wardrobe. When the scenes only have one of us, the others can film. We may do multiple takes for each scene. After the shoot, the footage will be reviewed and edited. Visual effects and color correction may be added. The video is then finalized and ready to be released. It's a collaborative process that brings the artist's vision to life! When filming our music video, there can be a few challenges to overcome. One challenge is finding the perfect location that matches the vision of the video. Another challenge is coordinating schedules and availability of all the group

Production Blog for Music Video!

Hi there, I'm back! After finishing my commercial, I've banded together with a group for my music video. I told you about them a little earlier in my group blog. They are my close friends and I am excited to work with them. Originally, we wanted to used "Because" by The Beatles. It would have been more artsy and out of the box, but we wanted to follow some of the conventions seen in rock music videos. This made us turn our focus onto more alternative songs. "Say It Ain't So" by Weezer seemed perfect. There is four of us, and four people in their band. After we had the song figured out we wanted to figure out what our video would look like. We started planning on a storyboard of what our scenes were. Our teacher told us each scene should be six seconds. This would make our total of one minute and fifteen seconds. Ou music video contains some of clips of us playing instruments. I do not play any, so they wanted me to sing. I will eventually have to learn t

My Group!

I am working with three other people, Samantha Burton, Amelie De Kegel, and Isaac Gafanovich. I worked with Sammie and Isaac in Global Perspectives last year. We did our Component 3 together and it worked really well. All three of us were understanding about any issues we made. I felt very supported with this group and was very excited to meet with them again. We are in the same block for this class and sit next to each other. I would happily work with these people again, however we have one extra person. Amelie is a long-time friend of both mine and Sammie. She did not know anyone else in the class so we wanted to invite her to sit with us. She gets along with us already, so we figure that her joining will be no problem. She is a very musical person and has past experience with editing. This will help us put together our music video. Because of this, the four of us decided to join together for this project. The song we have chosen is "Say It Ain't So" by Weezer. We thoug

Hey I'm back! I have finished my commercial and I am very happy with the product. I will now start on my music video. My name is Lilly Gonzalez. I am a fifteen year old sophomore who was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I love to travel and I am fortunate enough to have been to all seven continents with my parents. I love reading, and playing video games with my friends. I am also an avid music listener. In fact, last year I streamed 268,000 minutes of music! Yesterday, I went to see a boygenius concert at Madison Square Garden with my best friend. It was one of the best moments of my life. Typically, I can be found listening to indie or rock music, but sometimes, it’s all about musical theater. I have been in a little over 20 musicals. Acting gives me a way to express myself in a way I usually do not. I also love making art. I’ve gone to many summer camps over the years to develop my painting and sculpting skills. I think stimulating creativity is so important for my b
