Production Blog: Editing!
Once we got back to Sammie's house, we got to work. Her dad tried to Airdrop all the videos, but the files were so that big it took a while. Eventually, we individually texted the videos from his phone to her computer. She is an expert on using iMovie, so that was an obvious choice for editing. We started by planning out our scenes and frames. Amelie and I went through all the footage and cut down any excess seconds of film at the beginning or end. We deleted any confusing shots or if one of us broke character. It took us about twenty minutes to fully cut down every clip into the format we wanted. Once we had everything, we sent them back to Sammie. She started by just putting all the clips into iMovie, without order. But before we added the song, we had to order each shot. Whatever we filmed at the house came first, then we used the clips from the studio. We inputted the music on top of it. This forced us to switch around some clips to make the music fit. We wanted the chorus to start when I sang it in the studio itself. After adding all of that and timing it perfectly, we only had fifty seconds. We decided to add all the inserts to give us another twenty seconds. This helped lengthen the video and got us to our time frame. We still have some finishing touches to fix, but this helped get a majority of the work out of the way. I'll tell you more about us finalizing the project in the next one!
