Production Blog for Music Video!


Hi there, I'm back! After finishing my commercial, I've banded together with a group for my music video. I told you about them a little earlier in my group blog. They are my close friends and I am excited to work with them. Originally, we wanted to used "Because" by The Beatles. It would have been more artsy and out of the box, but we wanted to follow some of the conventions seen in rock music videos. This made us turn our focus onto more alternative songs. "Say It Ain't So" by Weezer seemed perfect. There is four of us, and four people in their band. After we had the song figured out we wanted to figure out what our video would look like. We started planning on a storyboard of what our scenes were. Our teacher told us each scene should be six seconds. This would make our total of one minute and fifteen seconds. Ou music video contains some of clips of us playing instruments. I do not play any, so they wanted me to sing. I will eventually have to learn the lyrics for this song to pretend-sing. We also had some scheduling issues about when we could film. We wanted to do it on the Saturday of October 28th, but Sammie ended up having to go to a family party. The 21st worked out better for all of us, so that is when we decided to film! After working out the kinks, we are all good. I hope everything goes well with the music video.

What conventions of psychological thrillers does this movie have? This movie has lots of close ups and zooms into the main characters face. The sets and costumes are all relating to the 1950's which is where the movie is set. There is a major plot twist nearing the end of the movie, common in this genre. The main character is trapped and cannot escape, also common in this genre. Final Task Music - Production Blog

Our group has finally moved forward with our filming process. Now we have to get over a large obstacle, music. Our teacher told us that we would need to use royalty free music, unless we got permission from the people who made a published song. The last thing we wanted was for the music to be generic when we were trying to convey a creepy mood to our audience. We tried to brainstorm for song ideas, looking through Spotify playlists and such. After a while, I suggested we use "Everything in Its Right Place." This is a Radiohead song and it seems like a perfect fit for our concept. The song starts fairly mellow but progressed to something loud and overwhelming, which is exactly how we wanted to convey Amelie's emotions. We got to work immediately. I found as many people related to Radiohead as possible. I sent Amelie their Instagram accounts, Twitter accounts, store email, etc. She reached out on every possible platform I gave her.
