Final Task Music - Production Blog

Our group has finally moved forward with our filming process. Now we have to get over a large obstacle, music. Our teacher told us that we would need to use royalty free music, unless we got permission from the people who made a published song. The last thing we wanted was for the music to be generic when we were trying to convey a creepy mood to our audience. We tried to brainstorm for song ideas, looking through Spotify playlists and such. After a while, I suggested we use "Everything in Its Right Place." This is a Radiohead song and it seems like a perfect fit for our concept. The song starts fairly mellow but progressed to something loud and overwhelming, which is exactly how we wanted to convey Amelie's emotions. We got to work immediately. I found as many people related to Radiohead as possible. I sent Amelie their Instagram accounts, Twitter accounts, store email, etc. She reached out on every possible platform I gave her. We waited a few days and when we felt like all hope was lost, Amelie got a message from Colin Greenwood on Instagram! He was verified and a known member of Radiohead so we were stoked. He told us that he would help us get the rights for a year, which was our original goal. We all celebrated and thanked him. But, things got suspicious pretty quick. He told us that he would give us the rights for the song in exchange for "Steam" gift-cards. Steam is an online gaming website, so we knew that this was a scam. We kept in communications just in case but we are pretty sure that it was fake. Eventually, his account got removed from Instagram. Then we knew that it was definitely not real. Now, we are back to our original dilemma. Isaac suggested we use a Beatles song, but I think that they will be even more difficult to contact. We will try nevertheless.
